STOP MOTION PROJECT
I worked with my friend Alexa Villarreal for this project. We found it difficult to make each frame identical to the last. I think our video ended up being creative and weird. We both liked how it turned out and enjoyed making it.
CLONES OF ME
I struggled a lot with this project overall and in my final product there are some mistakes. I found it difficult to layer the images in the right position and line them up. My friend who took my photos also moved a little bit and so the images did not line up all the way. If I could change anything about this piece I would go back and thoroughly watch a tutorial on how to layer the images and clone myself, then hopefully improve it.
STATE FAIR POSTER
PATTERNS PROJECT
For my patterns, the theme I chose was flowers. Since it's currently autumn and most flowers are dead, I decided to create spring inspired patterns. The main issue I had with this project was not being able to use photoshop for the longest time and having to work on other assignments. Luckily, GIMP works just as well as photoshop and I was able to finally complete this assignment before the quarter cut off. I would recommend planning out your patterns heavily before finally drawing them out. I would also advise having photoshop on hand because it is a big part of the project.

SOLID DRAWING
CREATURE FEATURE
The photo I used is one I took myself while I was in old Wilmington. There was a very old cemetery and I thought it looked cool. The “cryptid” I created is a spider-like monster who likes to chill in cemeteries because they make it feel safe. The creature likes dangling from trees and scaring children. The creature is sometimes accompanied by it’s little devil friend who also enjoys hanging out in cemeteries. I used a drawing pad to help bring these creatures to life. I toggled the opacity to help make the creatures seem as if they were actually there.
PACKAGE DESIGN
Why did you pick the product you did? I had found a water bottle in my backpack so I decided to redo the boring, bland bottle wrapper by coming up with my own design.
How did you design your piece? I took inspiration from Holy Water and came up with my Purified Water idea. I took PNGs of Jesus and holy crosses and it all came together. What is most successful about your design? I think my overall design is pretty good. It looks authentic while also adding a bit of humor. If you could change anything about the piece, what would you do and why? If I could change anything, I would've made it bigger in size so that you could see the images more clearly. |
NEWANIMAL
- What problems did you overcome during this project and how? I struggled a lot with duplicating the eyes and ears and molding them to the image.
- If you could change anything about the piece what would you do? If I could change anything about this project, I’d probably work harder in photoshop to make the animal appear more realistic.
- Explain your animal? What is their name/species? How did you come up with this idea? My animal is a cross between a cat and a blobfish (Psychrolutes marcidus.) Blobfish and cats are two of my favorite creatures so I decided to bring them together as one.
INSPIRED ARTIST - REBECCA STEVENSON
Rebecca Stevenson is a London operating artist whose primary focus is wax sculpture. Stevenson is best known for her baroque inspired sculptures in resin and wax. She graduated from the Chelsea College of Art & Design in 1998 and also attended and graduated the Royal College of Art in 2000. Her work is held in the Olbricht Collection, the Maramotti Collection, and the collection of Paul and Alison Myners. Her work is also held in numerous private collections around the world. Rebecca Stevenson is inspiring to me because her work shows her determination. Her sculptures are so intricate and well produced. Stevenson also shows a great fascination towards human and animal anatomy which is evident in many of her pieces.
